Why are Google reviews so important?
Have you ever heard of Google Maps? I thought so.
Even most Iphone users (myself included) consider Google maps a must have app despite Apple having it’s own version of maps. Why? Because as much as I love Apple products, their maps app is just miles behind when it comes to performance.
Next question – What do maps have to do with my reviews?
When I’m searching for a new service these days I have a pretty set process. I open up google maps in and type what I want to find in my area. For this example let’s say I’m looking for a coffee shop.
When I hit enter Google maps will show me coffee shops in my area and up until recently all I got was a few details, website and opening hours etc.
Now though, Google maps also shows Google reviews. So if two coffee shops come up in my local area – which one do you think I’m going to go to?
What should I do?
Actively build your Google reviews alongside your Facebook reviews.
Nearly all businesses have far fewer Google Reviews than Facebook reviews so this is a great opportunity to jump ahead of your competition.
Yes you should continue to grow your Facebook reviews but send some of your loyal customers to Google to give your business that competitive edge.
